For Ash Wednesday, Christian Climate Action Leeds and friends organised a Climate Crisis prayer walk, vigil and protest in the city centre to kick off their 40 days of action – fasting from fossil fuels in whatever ways we can and inviting the public to respond.
Six of our HLBC family braved the cold and walked in this vigil and protest, joining many people around the rest of the country in Climate-related actions today.
You can find more information on the 40 Days campaign at Christian Climate Action’s website.
The joy of our hearts has ceased;
our dancing has been turned to mourning.
The crown has fallen from our head;
woe to us, for we have sinned!
For this our heart has become sick,
for these things our eyes have grown dim,
for Mount Zion which lies desolate;
jackals prowl over it.
But you, O Lord, reign forever;
your throne endures to all generations.
Why do you forget us forever,
why do you forsake us for so many days?
Restore us to yourself, O Lord, that we may be restored!
