Bank Holiday Weekend

Chapeltown Carnival

Leeds Caribbean Carnival takes place as usual on Bank holiday Monday. Join in the community spirit and get involved with the Churches Together stall. Lots of help is needed for this, so if you’d like to help with chatting, support or handing out literature please get in touch with the Office as soon as possible.

Carnival is a huge event in our local community – pray that the Churches Together stall will have a successful run, and also pray for a day of peace and reconciliation in our community during this special day and at related events.

Greenbelt

Several HLBC folk will be going down to the Greenbelt Festival in Cheltenham for the bank holiday. Full details are on the Greenbelt website.

The short summer programme continues, looking at aspects of the Lord’s Prayer. This week’s service led by Alison focuses on ‘Confession’.

Services during the summer holidays are usually smaller and more low key as people come and go on holidays. There is no regular Sunday Club and the services either seek to be all-age inclusive or else there will be some provision for children aged up to 13 – check here for confirmation.

‘Give us this day…’

The short summer programme continues, looking at aspects of the Lord’s Prayer. This week’s service led by Maureen focuses on ‘Supplication’. We welcome visitors for a dedication as part of this morning’s worship.

Services during the summer holidays are usually smaller and more low key as people come and go on holidays. There is no regular Sunday Club and the service will have more of an all-together feel. The creche room and toy corner are available as normal and the service aims to be shorter than usual!

Special – Community Prayers

Following on from a prayer session on Wednesday night at the Teen Challenge van on Chapeltown Road, there will be another opportunity for prayer over the recent unrest and violence in the local area.

The gathering will take place this Saturday, August 13th, 3pm at Norma Hutchinson Park (Buslingthorpe rec.) junction of Chapeltown Road and Savile Drive. All are welcome, local churches, community residents etc.

From the organisers: “Kids can play in the park while we pray. Please invite all who want to pray whatever church they belong to. Make a stand in prayer for our community, our men and the lawlessness in our cities.”

The short summer programme continues looking at aspects of the Lord’s Prayer. This week: Adoration. As this is the first Sunday in the month, we will be sharing together with a communion service led by Liz.
